First Time Travel Blogger Alert!

If you're reading this, you must be new here! That's cool, so am I!

I've done some blogging on and off for the past few years, but I've not done a "travel specific" blog before. So this should be pretty fun for us all! I'm going to take a quick second to introduce myself so you know who I am, why I'm here, and all that good stuff! Please feel free to introduce yourselves in the comments below!

I'm Crissandra Winters. I'm an Air Force vet who took a turn as a stay-at-home-mom and now I am a business owner. I run my own travel agency called C&K Getaways and I'm based in the R.V. Capitol of the World... Elkhart, Indiana. I want an R.V. so stinkin' bad. My husband and I have 4 kids between the 2 of us and our favorite thing to do as a family is leave Elkhart and go anywhere else!

One of the reasons that we love to travel is that it gives us a real chance to connect with one another in a way that just "feels" different than trying to connect at home. Maybe it's because I'm only on my phone to take pictures during vacation instead of using it for work. Maybe it's because my husband isn't working his normal 50 hour work week and actually has time to relax with the kids instead of the typical evening rush between getting them off the bus and putting them to bed. Perhaps, for me, it's my background in anthropology. I'm an Anthropology major and I am absolutely fascinated by the world... Especially the history of places. And for my kids it's probably the chance to not only get mom and dad's full attention but also to experience new and exciting sights, sounds, and tastes!

Ok, the "tastes" thing is one of my main reasons, too.

The love I have for travel is probably a good mix of cultural and genetic factors. As a little kid, I moved a lot! I have never lived anywhere for more than 5 years (and I'm a 30-something) so I am used to going new places and meeting new friends. In the military I was the same way, although I didn't get sent to any "super cool" places. Genetically, my mind never stops moving so it makes sense that I like to keep my surroundings moving.

That's part of why I became a travel agent... Yeah, I love to travel, but as an agent I don't get to just plan my own travel all day long and then talk about it to people for money. That would be pretty cool. I should have been an influencer but I think you have to combine your love of travel with a sweet sense of fashion and know how to use Instagram way better than I do if you want to be one of the Insta-elite. Yeah, no.

The rest of my "why" is that I really enjoy helping everyone else plan for their dream vacations. Sure, I wish I was also going to some amazingly exotic destination right about now because it's rainy and gross here in Hoosier-land... But really... I think it is so incredible to be a part of something so special and every trip is unique! Two families could go to the exact same place at the exact same time and their experiences could be completely different yet equally as great. It's like the saying "it's better to give than to receive". It's not actually better (just to be clear, I would rather be the one going, haha) but it is still amazing to watch. Kinda like Christmas. Us grown folk plan the perfect gifts for our kids, spouses, parents, fur babies, etc... and we really love watching their faces light up on Christmas morning when they open the box to see that they got something that we knew they'd instantly fall in love with.

So I guess that makes me Crissandra Claus.

Considering my intense love of cookies (and anything with caloric value if we're being honest) and also presents I'll happily bear this title.

I just need to pause right here and make a quick PSA... Icelandic hot dogs are the stuff of dreams. I'm not even kidding. Icelandic hot dogs are magical.

Moving on...

Now you've gotten a quick little run-down of who I am, so now I'm just going to tell you a little bit about what I do. And maybe what I don't do. I'm not superwoman. I can't do it all. Don't tell my kids.

My absolute favorite type of travel to book is anything within the "all-inclusive" genre. Seriously. I love cruises and I love all-inclusive resorts and I want to send everyone to one of these at least once. I have an extensive network of companies that I work with to get you set up with the perfect cruise and to send you to dreamy resorts around the world where you can eat, drink, and sunbathe to your heart's content.  I love the all-inclusive packages because not only are they usually pretty affordable, your food, drinks, entertainment, and more won't cost you anything extra unless you want a special upgrade. You don't have to worry about leaving your resort 3 times a day to find food because you'll have a good amount of options right there. And if you're on a cruise the amenities are always just a quick walk away and a lot are available 24/7.

I also enjoy planning Disney vacations. I just love Disney. Need I say more?

We also plan guided tours all over the world, group trips (think: church groups, college, large families, wedding parties), help plan the perfect honeymoon or destination wedding, domestic sightseeing trips, and so much more.

What I don't do is pretty simple: I do not act as a travel insurance agent. I will help you get the proper coverage to meet your needs but I do not process claims nor speak for the insurer. I also do not book trips that are "air-only". That means I will book you a package that includes air or I will book you a place to stay and things to do without it, but I do not book domestic flights by themselves.

It's an incredible feeling to just KNOW you're where you're meant to be! I'd like to help you get to where you're meant to be for your next vacation.

That's all for today, folks! I'm working on putting together a series that I know you're going to love so be sure to follow along and share with other travel-loving people you know!
