Fun Jamaica-Inspired Jerk Chicken Recipe, Cocktails & Mocktail To Try At Home!

Happy Friday, everyone! If you subscribe to our monthly newsletter you probably saw that we included two cocktail recipes for you to try that were inspired by my recent trip to Jamaica!

If you missed it. don’t worry! You can find them here in this post along with a delicious mocktail recipe and instructions on how to make one of the foods that Jamaica is most famous for… Jerk Chicken!

I’m not a food blogger, I am not a chef, and I am not Jamaican and I do not claim any of these as 100% authentic although I did try to stay as close as possible to it. I’m just an elder millennial who appreciates travel, good drinks and tasty food from places I’ve been!

If you have any questions or suggestions for me to add or try, drop a comment! If you try any of the recipes and love them, please let me know!

Let’s get right to it!

Cocktails

Bob Marley (Crissandra’s Version)

Up first is a refreshing and very pretty one! I had fallen in love with the Bob Marley drinks at the resort and wanted to try to make one at home. While my version is really not like what I had at the resort (I couldn’t find a recipe that nailed it,to be honest) I found a few different ones on Pinterest and mix and matched ingredients to customize a bit. I think this would also be great with a few drops of lime in the green layer.

I am planning on trying to make a “mocktail” / virgin version but as of right now I don’t have one. I will update when I do!

Jamaican Smile

Up next we have my (and my husband’s) absolute favorite! The Jamaican Smile is hands down the best frozen drink I’ve ever had! It’s got the perfect blend of strawberry, banana, coconut, pineapple, and if you are feeling adventurous I recommend doing a chocolate syrup drizzle! It takes it to the next level!

And YES! — There is an alcohol free kid friendly version which my kids are literally bananas about!

***To make it a mocktail***

All you need to do is leave out the Rum Chata and increase the coconut cream to 3 or 4 oz instead of 2!

jerk chicken

If you know me, you may know that chicken is probably one of my least favorite meats. Of course, I still eat it and cook it frequently but I would much rather have a Pittsburgh-style ribeye than chicken of any kind.

That’s why I am so happy that I found Jamaican Jerk Chicken this past summer! I ate it just about every day of my vacation! And now, thanks to the internet, I know how to make it! This is NOT my recipe. In fact, I 100% recommend visiting the blog where I got the recipe: https://www.grillseeker.com/authentic-caribbean-jerk-chicken/ because there is so much more detail and step by step pictures, too! Again, this is not my recipe… I am sharing the one that I found on Pinterest that I made and LOVED!
